NEW ARRIVALS FROM OUR SHOE SALON

Why Easter eggs?

Last Saturday was the first day of spring, and it marked the beginning of a brand new time of freshness, breeziness and rebirth. Along with the coming of this much expected moment, comes a time of festivals and events. One of the first events that takes place in the springtime is the widely known Easter celebration. Families and friends from every corner of the world come together to decorate different types of eggs, or even hide them so the little ones can hunt them down. As a consequence of the geographical location and culture of each person, the Easter eggs tradition varies. Regardless, the reason for the existence of this practice is almost the same all around the world.
The ancient Egyptians, Persians, Phoenicians, and Hindus all believed the world began with an enormous egg, thus the egg as a symbol of new life has been around for centuries. The particulars may vary, but most cultures around the world use the egg as a symbol of rebirth. With the rise of Christianity in Western Europe, the church adapted many pagan customs and the egg, as a symbol of revival, came to represent the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Just like that, our ancestors started decorating the eggs and giving them away as a sign of love, friendship and good wishes. The fun part is that everyone started developing his own techniques to do so! The Easter eggs craze invaded the world and many new ways to decorate them appeared. They were made of porcelain or even chocolate! As a result, the Easter egg hunt became a tradition and kids started counting down the days of the year until they could finally eat their favorite chocolate treats again. We love Easter eggs not only because of their delicious flavors and the outstanding variety of colors that cover them, but because of the meaning that comes implicit in the giving of each one of them.
Furthermore, the tradition allows us to prepare something special for our loved ones, as well as sharing family time looking for the little symbols of renewal hidden all over our homes. Here are some photos of our favorite ones, the only thing you're missing now is the lucky outfit that your children will be wearing during this joyful celebration.
